In a battle between two of Class A’s top ten teams, the ninth-ranked Lakeview Academy baseball team defeated fifth-ranked Hebron Christian 9-8 on Wednesday in Dacula.
The Lions (12-1, 6-0 Region 8-A), who have won five straight games, held off Hebron’s five-run surge in the seventh inning to secure the win and stay unbeaten in region play, while handing Hebron it’s first region loss.
Ralston Cash led Lakeview on the mound, pitching six innings and striking out eight.
Brett Armour was 3-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs for the Lions. Ross Biegler hit a three-run double and Tyler Ward and Jacob Whitenton also provided hits for Lakeview.
Lakeview visits Social Circle at 5:30 p.m. today.
Banks County 10, North Oconee 9
Stephen Smith was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs while earning the win in relief for the Leopards on Wednesday in Homer.
Kyle Smith, Justin Bowen and Justin Gibbes each homered for Banks County (10-4, 4-3 Region 8S-AA). Chris Porter was 2-for-4 with a double, a run and two RBIs for the Leopards.
Banks County plays host to Oglethorpe County at 5:30 p.m. today.
