Buford's Davis erupts for 28 points in win

Kaela Davis scored a game-high 28 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for Buford in a 58-42 win against Greater Atlanta Christian on Saturday in Buford. Andraya Carter, a junior, added 15 points, five rebounds and four steals for the Lady Wolves (10-1, 6-0 Region 6-AA).

Leading 24-23 at halftime, Buford took control of the game by outscoring the Lady Spartans 17-9 in the third quarter.
Kristina Nelson led GAC with 14 points and 13 rebounds.

Buford plays host to Cross Keys at 6 p.m. on Tuesday in Buford.

GREATER ATLANTA CHRISTIAN BOYS 60, BUFORD 54 OT:
The Spartans outscored the Wolves (8-5, 2-2 Region 6-AA) 10-4 in overtime on Saturday in Buford. T.J. Shipes led the Wolves with 19 points and Zac Lynn added 17.

JOHNSON GIRLS 55, MONROE AREA 38: Caitlin Sloan scored a team-high 16 points and Lyndsey Pethel added 11 for the Lady Knights (8-6, 2-0 Region 8B-AAA) on Saturday in Walton County.

Johnson took control of the game with a 13-4 run in the opening period of play.

Johnson visits Gainesville at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

MONROE AREA BOYS 58, JOHNSON 56:
Matt Hollis hit a shot with 3.6 seconds left in the game to give the Knights a 1-point lead, but Monroe Area’s Ken Jackson hit a long 3-pointer at the buzzer for the win on Saturday in Walton County.

Ty Odem finished with a team-high 20 points for the Knights (8-6, 0-2 Region 8B-AAA) and Hollis added 17.

Johnson visits Gainesville at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

NORTH HALL BOYS 62, FLOWERY BRANCH 40: Amin Aziz finished with 14 points for the North Hall boys on Saturday at North Hall. Kanler Coker chipped in 11 points for the Trojans (9-5) and Lance White added 10.

North Hall visits Lumpkin County at 7:30 on Tuesday in Dahlonega.

POLK COUNTY (N.C.) GIRLS 52, LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 35: Taylor Handte led the Lady Lions (2-11) with 14 points and Mona Abraham added seven on Saturday in Columbus, N.C. Lakview Academy plays host to Athens Academy at 7 p.m. on Friday.

POLK COUNTY (N.C.) BOYS 70, LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 55:
Austin Montgomery led the Lions (5-8) with 14 points and Matt Askounis added 8 points on Saturday in Columbus, N.C. Lakeview Academy faces Riverside Military at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

WEST HALL GIRLS 53, LANIER 18: Amber Johnson scored a game-high 19 points for the Lady Spartans (6-11, 1-3 Region 8B-AAA) and hit all seven of her free throw attempts on Saturday in Oakwood. West Hall plays host to Walnut Grove at 6 p.m. on Tuesday in Oakwood.

WEST HALL BOYS 66, LANIER 49: Dre Pou scored a game-high 19 points for the Spartans (13-3, 4-0 Region 8B-AAA) on Saturday in Oakwood.

Shunquez Stephens scored 16 points and Jarquise Young finished with 12 for the Spartans, which play host to Walnut Grove at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

WALNUT GROVE GIRLS 45, GAINESVILLE 36: Rebecca Webster scored 10 points for the Lady Red Elephants (7-8, 3-1 Region 8B-AAA) on Saturday in Gainesville.

Aleayah Hendrix added eight points for Gainesville, which plays host to Johnson at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

Swimming
FLOWERY BRANCH WINS BOYS, GIRLS MEET:
The Flowery Branch High boys and girls swimming teams came away with a win in a meet against Buford, North Hall, Lumpkin County at Chestatee on Friday at the Frances Meadows Aquatic Center in Gainesville.

Placing first for the Falcons were Hudson Howard (500 yard freestyle), Sean Bart (100 breaststroke), Zack Miller-Hogg (200 freestyle) and Bethany Wicker (200 IM). Second place finishers for Flowery Branch were Zack Miller-Hogg (200 butterfly), Howard (50 freestyle), Conner Cudney (100 backstroke) and Morgan Ryder (100 backstroke).

Sean Bart (100 freestyle), Holly Faul (100 freestyle), Mark Faul (500 freestyle), Kaitlyn Kennedy (500 freestyle) and Catalina Dunn (200 freestyle) all finished third for Flowery Branch.
