East Hall boys cruise past Flowery Branch

The East Hall boys hit seven 3-pointers and Brian Edwards scored a career-high 17 points in a 69-47 win against Flowery Branch on Tuesday in Gainesville. The Vikings (8-4) took a commanding lead with a 22-8 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Chris Orr added 10 points for the Vikings.

James Hodges led the Falcons with 10 points and Andrew Miles also finished with 10.

East Hall visits Dawson County to open Region 8-AA play at 7:30 on Tuesday. Flowery Branch plays host to Madison County at 8:30 Friday.

EAST HALL GIRLS 67, FLOWERY BRANCH 32: Morgan Jackson poured in a game-high 20 points and Jasmine Jenkins finished with 15 for the Lady Vikings on Tuesday in Gainesville. Leading 13-6 after the first quarter, East Hall outscored Flowery Branch 16-7 in the second period.

Tavia Sykes led Flowery Branch with 10.

CHESTATEE GIRLS 45, PICKENS 44: Peyton Robertson finished with 21 points and five rebounds in a win on Tuesday. Rachel Kelly added eight points and four rebounds for the Lady War Eagles.

Trailing 30-23 after three quarters, Chestatee outscored Pickens 22-14 in the fourth quarter.

BUFORD GIRLS 53, MADISON COUNTY 16: Kaela Davis scored a game-high 16 points along with seven rebounds and four steals for the Lady Wolves (8-1) on Tuesday in Buford. Constance Harrison added 12 points for Class AA’s top-ranked Lady Wolves.

Andraya Carter finished with six points, five rebounds and three steals for the Lady Wolves.

BUFORD BOYS 68, MADISON COUNTY 40: Four Wolves scorers finished in double figures on Tuesday in Buford.

Zac Lynn scored a game-high 17 points for the Wolves, while T.J. Shipes added 12. Alex Flagler and Jake Burnette each chipped in 11 points for Buford.

Buford jumped to a quick start with a 21-11 lead after the first quarter.

WRESTLING

NORTH HALL EDGES CHESTATEE: J.W. Gilbert (112), Kyle Wesley (140), Malik Wesley (145), Jay Lyles (152) and Dylan Brock (189) all won by way of pins for the War Eagles in a 37-35 loss to North Hall on Tuesday.

GAINESVILLE TAKES DOWN DRUID HILLS: Rodney Timmons (112), Andy Mai (125) and Josue Hernandez (152) each finished with a pin and Evan Maine (145) won by a decision for the Red Elephants in a 37-35 win against Druid Hills on Tuesday.
