High School Scoreboard: Grogan leads Lakeview Academy girls to win in 1st game of the season

The Lakeview Academy girls basketball team picked up its first win of the season, a 64-52 victory against the Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School on Thursday in Rabun Gap.

The Lady Lions (1-0) were led by Hanna Grogan with 21 points. Ryann Moody and Jackie Allen each contributed 11 points.

Lakeview Academy face Lumpkin County at Piedmont College in the Hardwood Classic. The game will tip off at 4 p.m. Monday in Demorest.

LAKEVIEW ACADEMY BOYS 90, RABUN GAP-NACOOCHEE SCHOOL 64: Drew Cottrell was 7 of 11 on 3-point attempts as he led the Lions (1-0) with 27 points on Thursday. Tre Gober was close behind with 21 points. Carter Reeves finished the night with a double-double for Lakeview Academy, totaling 11 points and 10 rebounds. Josh Randolph also picked up a double-double for the Lions with 12 rebounds and 11 assists to accompany his eight points. The Lions will play Lumpkin County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday in the Hardwood Classic at Piedmont College in Demorest.

WHITE COUNTY GIRLS 50, TALLULAH FALLS 44: Kyleigh Johnson led the Lady Warriors (1-0) with 11 points as they picked up their first win of the year. Sakina Wilmont scored eight for White County. Charlsie Maddox and Maddie Phillips each posted seven. For Tallulah Falls, Nyah Williams led all scorers with 21 points.

The Lady Warriors will play at Habersham Central at 4 p.m. on Saturday.

RABUN COUNTY GIRLS 76, DAWSON COUNTY 51: The Lady Tigers (0-1) opened their season with a tough night on both ends of the floor. Kaylee Sticker led Dawson County with 14 points. Kati Brady had nine, while Marley Townley scored eight. Dawson County will play in the North Forsyth Thanksgiving Tournament against Creekview at 12:30 p.m. Saturday in Cumming.

DAWSON COUNTY BOYS 65, RABUN COUNTY 49: Jeremiah Crumley led the Tigers (1-0) to a season-opening win with 20 points and five rebounds. Cullen Reed contributed 19 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. Dawson County will play Johns Creek in the North Forsyth Thanksgiving Tournament at 5 p.m. Saturday in Cumming.
