The Gainesville High wrestling team earned an area win with a 42-9 triumph against Johnson on Wednesday in Gainesville.

Trahern Ricks (171 pounds), Michael Waters (189), Josh Jackson (285), Armondo Medina (112), Austin Hendrix (119), Nathan Dillard (125), Evan Maine (130), Edgar Acosta (140) and John Webster (160) each had wins for the Red Elephants.

Aaron Black (215) and Kendall Peterman (152) won for the Knights.

Gainesville hosts the Big Red Rumble at 9 a.m. Saturday. Johnson will participate in the Winder-Barrow next weekend.

Chestatee wins one, loses two in four-team meet

The War Eagles earned a 41-36 win against Fannin County and a lost to Gilmer 54-24 and Sonoraville 66-15 on Wednesday in Ellijay.

Conner Comeaux (130 pounds) and Cam Phillips (152) went undefeated and earned three wins each for Chestatee. Zach Chadwick (112) had two wins. J.W. Gilbert (103), Aron Verduzco (119), Nathaniel Peck (140), John Robinson (160) and Ed Villeda (189) each had one win for the War Eagles.

Chestatee will participate in the Big Red Rumble at 9 a.m. Saturday.
