High School Scoreboard: Gainesville tops Discovery behind Simonds' 22 points

The Gainesville High boys basketball team defeated Discovery High 81-61 on Tuesday in Lawrenceville.
Senior D’Marcus Simonds paced the Red Elephants with 22 points, while KJ Buffen and Michael White both totaled 16 points.

Gainesville (10-3, 7-0 8-AAAAA) hosts Apalachee 8:30 p.m. Friday.

LAKEVIEW ACADEMY BOYS 76, TALLULAH FALLS 42: Carter Reeves led the scoring for the Lions with 16 points on Tuesday at Tallulah Falls.

Drew Cottrell had 14 points and Josh Randolph added 12.

Lakeview Academy (14-3, 6-0 8-A) hosts Christ School (N.C.) 7:30 p.m. Friday.

LAKEVIEW ACADEMY GIRLS 80, TALLULAH FALLS 51: Hanna Grogan led the Lady Lions with 29 points on Tuesday at Tallulah Falls.

Also for the Lady Lions, Ryann Moody and Halee Cash added 10 and 8 points, respectively.

Lakeview Academy (13-5, 6-0 8-A) next plays Commerce on Saturday.

CHESTATEE GIRLS 41, MONROE AREA 33: Dawndria Bell and Lindsey Caudell netted 13 points apiece for the Lady War Eagles on Tuesday in Monroe.

Chestatee (8-10, 2-0 8-AAAA) visits Madison County at 7 p.m. Friday.

NORTH HALL BOYS 55, MADISON COUNTY 50: The Trojans’ Evan Easton scored a game-high 20 points and Carson Heinen added 15 on Friday.

North Hall (13-4, 2-0 8-AAAA) visits Buford 8:30 p.m. Friday.

NORTH HALL GIRLS 41, MADISON COUNTY 36: Taylor Anne Kelley and Tatum Mcquillen each scored 11 points for the Lady Trojans.

North Hall (10-7, 2-0 8-AAAA) visits Buford 7 p.m. Friday.

BUFORD GIRLS 61, JOHNSON 21: The Lady Wolves’ Audrey Weiner and Pamela Johnson both scored 11 points Tuesday night in Oakwood.

Buford (13-3, 2-0 8-AAAA) hosts North Hall 7 p.m. Friday.

DAWSON COUNTY GIRLS 47, WEST HALL 44: Haley Burgess hit four 3-pointers and led the Lady Tigers with 19 points on Tuesday in Dawsonville.

Dawson County was down three at the half, but used a 16-5 third quarter to take the lead into the fourth. The Lady Tigers made their free throws down the stretch to hold off a hard charging Lady Spartans squad.

Dawson County (17-0, 6-0 7-AAA) hosts East Hall 7 p.m. Friday, while West Hall (9-8, 2-4 7-AAA) hosts Banks County 7 p.m. Friday.
