High school scoreboard: Flowery Branch girls tennis sweeps Gainesville

Flowery Branch’s Annabelle Thomas defeated Gainesville’s Haley Frankum in straight sets (6-4, 6-0) on Thursday in the Lady Falcons tennis team’s 5-0 victory against the Lady Red Elephants.

Olivia Correa won her match (6-1, 6-0) for Flowery Branch, while teammate Olivia Nance defeated her opponent in straight sets (6-2, 6-3). Peyton Brick/Kylie McGuire won in straight sets (6-4, 6-0) for Flowery Branch, and teammates Marissa Barret/Brenna Martin did the same (6-0, 6-1).

FLOWERY BRANCH BOYS 3, GAINESVILLE 2: Drayton Matus won in No. 1 singles in straight sets (6-0, 6-1) for Flowery Branch. Tucker Smallwood was another singles winner for the Falcons, emerging victorious in straight sets (6-0, 6-0). Brady McVey/John Hollis won their match (6-2, 4-6, 12-10).

Flowery Branch improved to 7-2 and 2-0 in region play.

JOHNSON GIRLS 5, CHESTATEE 0: Johnson’s Julia Kay Mallory won her match in straight sets (6-2, 6-4) in a 5-0 victory over Chestatee on Wednesday.

Sloanne Sengson won her match for the Lady Knights (6-2, 6-2), while teammate Arianna Granski picked up another win (6-2, 6-4). Alejandra Delgado/Perla Rivera won in doubles (6-2, 3-6, 6-1) for Johnson, as did Anna Cooper/ Isa Martinez (6-0,7-6).

JOHNSON GIRLS 5, WALNUT GROVE 0: Mallory won her match (2-6, 6-1, 6-4) in a 5-0 victory against Walnut Grove on Tuesday.

Sengson clinched a win (6-1, 6-0) for the Knights, and Granski won her match (6-0, 6-0). Delgado/Rivera won in doubles (6-0, 6-1) for Johnson, along with Cooper/Martinez (6-1, 6-0).

RIVERSIDE MILITARY 5, WOOD GAP ACADEMY 0: Alec Chandler, Sibu Khoza and Brayden Lawson were the single winners for Riverside Military.

They all won their matches in straight sets (6-0, 6-0). Pablo Ginebra\David Bryant won in straight sets (6-1, 6-0) for the Eagles. Russell Bolton\Alexi Barr also won their match (6-1, 6-0) for Riverside Military.

NORTH HALL BOYS 5, DAWSON COUNTY 0: North Hall’s Masa Kobayashi won in singles (6-2, 6-1). Christian Boychuk won his match (6-1, 6-1) for the Trojans.

Kody Dills won in straight sets (6-2, 6-2) for North Hall. Daniel Martin /Adam Turcotte won (6-1, 6-2) for the Trojans, while teammates Shawn Wallhausen/Ethan Surles won in straight sets (6-1, 6-2).

With the win, North Hall improved to 3-2 and 1-0 on region play.

The Trojans will compete in the Granger Invitational Tournament this weekend at Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain.

NORTH HALL GIRLS 5, DAWSON COUNTY 0: North Hall’s Anna Montgomery won in singles (6-1, 6-0), and Lauren Davis won her match (6-0, 6-2) for the Lady Trojans.

Christen Barnes won in straight sets (6-0,6-0) for North Hall, which improved to 4-1 and 1-0 in region play. Raquel Kallab/Sidney Patterson won (6-0, 6-1) for the Trojans, while teammates Carsen Baumgardner/Annalise Gregory won in straight sets (6-1,6-2).

North Hall will participate in the Granger Invitational Tournament this weekend at Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain.

Golf

Jacob Williams’ low score of 39 was not enough for Chestatee in a 183-180 loss to Lanier on Wednesday.
