High school scoreboard: Chestatee defeats East Hall in dual meet

The Chestatee High wrestling team won in all but three weight classes to defeat East Hall 66-15 on Tuesday night in Gainesvlle.

J.W. Gilbert (103 pounds), Zach Chadwick (112), Malik Wesley (125), Conner Comeaux (130), Cody Etris (135), Mike Brew (145), Cam Phillips (152), John Robinson (160), Roberto Castrudo (171), Ed Villeda (189) and David Jones (215) each had wins for Chestatee.

Chestatee faces Gilmer, Fannin County and Sonoraville at 5 p.m. Tuesday in Ellijay. East Hall will participate in the Santa Slam Dec. 19-20 at South Forsyth.

Basketball

Buford girls 55, Avondale 3

The Lady Wolves held Avondale scoreless until the fourth quarter to cruise to a win on Tuesday in Avondale Estates.

Eleven players contributed points for Buford (2-1), led by Blanche Alverson’s 14 points.

Buford faces North Hall at 4 p.m. Dec. 19 in the North Georgia College Classic at North Georgia College & State University in Dahlonega.

East Jackson boys 55,
Riverside Military 46

Dylen Setzekorn scored 15 points and Brandon McKinney added 12 points in the Eagles’ region opener on Tuesday in Gainesville.

Brandon Garrett and Colby Gilbert each had 18 points for East Jackson.

Riverside (1-3, 0-1) visits Banks County at 6 p.m. on Jan. 7 in Homer.

Dawson County boys 59,
White County 41

Jacob Evans earned a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds for the Tigers on Tuesday in Dawsonville.

Blyth Chester also scored in double figures for Dawson County (4-1), with 11.

Luke Crumley and Ashely Lowery each scored 12 points for White County (1-5).

Dawson County plays host to Creekview at 8:30 p.m. Friday. White County plays host to Union County at 8:30 p.m. Friday.

White County girls 46,
Dawson County 32

Madeline Wilbanks scored 11 points and Jamie Whitfield added 10 points for the Lady Warriors on Tuesday in Dawsonville.

Morgan Bennett was the lone Dawson County scorer in double figures, with 10 points.

White County plays host to Union County at 7 p.m. Friday. Dawson County (2-3) plays host to Creekview at 7 p.m. Friday.

Banks County 60, Union County 37

The Leopards had three players score in double figures, led by Chase Armour’s 18 points followed by Kane Duncan’s 15 points and Kevin Daniel’s 14 points on Tuesday in Homer.

Banks County (5-1) dominated Union County early with an 18-2 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Banks County faces Brookstone at 5:30 p.m. Friday in the Prince Avenue Christmas Tournament in Bogart.

Lumpkin County boys 48,
West Forsyth 47

E.J. Young scored 13 points and Shawn Chapman added 10 points for the Indians on Tuesday in Cumming.

Kris Brees led West Forsyth with 21 points. John Benedict added 13 points for the Wolverines.

Lumpkin County plays host to Chestatee at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Lumpkin County 42

Ashley Brown scored 20 points and had eight rebounds and four steals on Tuesday in Cumming.

Cara Malone also scored in double figures for the Lady Indians (1-4, 0-3) with 14 points, and added four assists, four steals and three rebounds.

Lumpkin County plays host to Chestatee at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
