Class AA’s No. 1-ranked Buford softball team saw its nine-game win streak come to an end in a 3-1 loss to Marist on Thursday in Buford.Buford’s junior pitcher Karly Fullem (6-2) picked up the loss in the circle giving up three runs, but had six strikeouts on the night.
Senior Alysha Rudnik and Kallie Case had the only hits on the night for the Lady Wolves and Rudnik scored on an error to get the Lady Wolves (12-4, 2-0 Region 6-AA) on the board.
Buford returns to action tonight when it visits Westminster in Atlanta.
Buford rolls through
The Lady Wolves defeated Paideia (25-23, 25-20), Providence (25-18, 25-17) and Chestatee (25-20, 25-10) on Wednesday in Buford.
Lady Wolves’ junior Elizabeth Darden led defensively with 39 digs on the night.
Hannah Parets had eight kills and Jamie Pridemore had 14 assists for the Buford (16-10-1, 4-1 Area 6-AA) offense.
The Lady Wolves begin play in the Gwinnett County Championship Tournament tonight in Norcross.
