High school scoreboard: Buford softball team stays undefeated with sweep

Avery Cason totaled 20 kills and three blocks in Buford’s sweep against Harrison (25-23, 25-20) and Lassiter (25-7, 25-21) on Thursday in Kennesaw.

Tatum Shipes posted 10 kills with 12 digs for the Lady Wolves (6-0), while Stella Alverson finished the night with 18 assists and nine digs. Buford plays Woodward Academy on Wednesday in College Park.

WEST HALL SPLITS AGAINST STEPHENS COUNTY AND WEST HALL: Cadie Shirley posted seven kills with three aces in West Hall’s split against Stephens County (25-27, 25-13, 25-23) and Habersham Central (20-25, 13-25).

Kinsey Wilson contributed six blocks for the Lady Spartans (6-8), and teammate Reagan Horton had 21 digs.
West Hall plays Loganville at 5 p.m. Tuesday in Oakwood.

FLOWERY BRANCH SPLITS AGAINST JEFFERSON AND OCONEE COUNTY: Katie Williams led the attack with eight kills for Flowery Branch in the lady Falcons’ split against Oconee County (25-22, 25-18) and Jefferson (21-25, 24-26).

Anna Marshall had six kills with two aces for Flowery Branch (5-1), while teammate Ellie Luciani finished the night with 17 digs, three aces and an assist.

Flowery Branch plays Chestatee and West Forsyth on Tuesday in Gainesville.

JOHNSON SPLITS WITH GEORGE WALTON ACADEMY AND WINDER-BARROW: Emma Hernandez led the Johnson attack with 15 kills and four blocks as the Lady Knights (2-4) split against George Walton Academy (25-17, 25-15) and Winder-Barrow (30-28, 20-25, 18-25).

Grace Eidson had 15 digs, 22 assists and 12 digs for Johnson, which hosts Winder-Barrow and Jackson County on Tuesday in Gainesville.

EAST HALL SPLITS AGAINST JACKSON COUNTY AND TALLULAH FALLS: Niyah Rucker posted 27 kills, 10 digs and four blocks in East Hall’s split with Jackson County (25-21, 23-25, 25-13) and Tallulah Falls (25-21, 21-25, 20-25).

Savannah Thellman had nine kills, 13 digs and 46 assists for the Lady Vikings. Teammate Tessa Rider finished the night with 13 kills, 12 aces, 29 digs and four assists.

East Hall plays Stephens County and Rabun County at 5 p.m. Tuesday in Toccoa.
