Bishop drives in three runs as East Hall tops Dawson County 8-2

Garrett Bishop drove in three runs to lead East Hall to an 8-2 win over Region 7-AAA foe Dawson County Friday night at East Hall Park in Gainesville.

The Vikings overcame an early 2-0 deficit in the top of the first inning to score eight straight runs, including four in the third inning.

After allowing the two unearned runs in the first inning, East Hall pitcher Cole Smith shut down Dawson County, allowing no earned runs with three strikeouts in three innings of work.

East Hall visits North Hall at 5:55 p.m. on Monday at Jody Davis Field.

NORTH HALL 8, BANKS COUNTY 2: Brandon Delong struck out six batters in six innings to lead the Trojans to a win Friday night in Gainesville.

Andrew Smith was 2 for 3 with an RBI, while Corbin Lewallen was 1 for 4 with two RBIs and a home run for North Hall (11-6, 9-3 Region 7-AAA). Micah Strickland was 1 for 4 with a pair of RBIs for the Trojans, who host East Hall in region play at 5:55 p.m. on Monday.

JACKSON COUNTY 12, ELBERT COUNTY 2: Joel Ellis was a perfect 3 for 3 with three runs batted in to lead the Panthers to a win in five innings on Friday night.

Patrick Overstreet was 1 for 3 with an RBI, while also earning the win on the hill after pitching a complete game and allowing just two hits on four runs.

Ben Brissey was 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs, while Andrew Fogarty was 1 for 3 with a double and two RBIs.

Jackson County (13-4, 4-2 Region 8-AAA) hosts North Oconee at 5:55 p.m. on Monday.

JEFFERSON SWEEPS DOUBLEHEADER: Hanon Price was 5 for 6 with four runs scored and four RBIs over two games as the Dragons swept Washington-Wilkes with a pair of 11-0 wins in Friday’s doubleheader.

Price went 2 for 3 with two runs scored and an RBI in Game 1, and 3 for 3 with two runs scored and three RBIs in Game 2 for Jefferson (16-3, 10-0 Region 8-AA).

Max Ford was 2 for 3 with a run and two RBIs in Game 1, and also pitched a two-hitter with seven strikeouts for the complete-game win. In that game, Christian Hutch was 2 for 3 with a run scored and an RBI, and Trent Sorrells homered with two runs scored and two RBIs.

In Game 2, Ethan Garner allowed just one hit with seven strikeouts over five innings. Jake Franklin provided the run support, going 3 for 3 with three runs scored and one RBI. Micah Carpenter was 2 for 2 with a run and an RBI.
Jefferson hosts Union County at 5:55 p.m. Tuesday.

JOHNSON BOYS 5, EASTSIDE 1 (THURSDAY): Luis Deltoro and Fabian Abarca each scored twice as the Knights remained unbeaten Thursday in Oakwood.

Jeffrey Cabrales also scored for Johnson (14-0, 6-0 Region 8-AAAA). Deltoro, Bryant Anaya, Isaac Henry and Luis Hernandez tallied assists.

Johnson hosts Madison County on Apr. 15.

GAINESVILLE TOPS WHITE COUNTY (THURSDAY): Meg Callahan fired a nine-hole score of 40 and Ashleigh Bishop shot a 42 to lead the Lady Red Elephants to a 134-137 win over White County at Mossy Creek Golf Club on Thursday.

Candler Kimsey shot a 41 to lead White County, while Brittan Slaton shot a 46 for the Lady Warriors.

Lacrosse
GAINESVILLE 14, MEADOWCREEK 9 (THURSDAY): The Lady Red Elephants earned their first win of the season with a win over Meadowcreek on Thursday night.
