Smith leads Trojans in 10-0 win

North Hall (11-5, 8-2 Region 8-AAA North) sent seven batters to the plate in the third inning, nine in the fourth and eight in the fifth, jumping on Chestatee in a 10-0 win.

For the Trojans, Griffin Olson was 2 for 4 with two RBIs in the game, Wade Phillips was 2 for 3 with an RBI, Colton Duttweiler was 2 for 3 with an RBI and Jesse Strickland was 2 for 2 with an RBI and four stolen bases. Avery Smith pitched four shutout innings for North Hall, allowing just four hits and striking out three, en route to the win.

Senior Jon Valponi picked up his first varsity hit as a pinch hitter in the fifth for the Trojans.

North Hall hosts Johnson on Friday, while Chestatee (2-11, 1-8) hosts Walnut Grove.

FLOWERY BRANCH 4, APALACHEE 1: Logan Conley led the Falcons (13-3) going 1 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs on Wednesday night in Winder. Breck Davidson went 1 for 3 with a double for Flowery Branch, and Chase Hulsey earned the win.

The Falcons host Rockdale County at 5:55 p.m. Friday.

BANKS COUNTY 11, FANNIN COUNTY 1: Taylor Foster earned the win for the Leopards (9-5, 8-2 Region 8-AA North) allowing only four hits in five innings with 10 strikeouts on Wednesday night in Blue Ridge. Tyler Hellmeister went 2 for 2 with three runs scored for Banks County, Zack Lee went 2 for 3 with three RBIs, and Dean Ewing went 2 for 3 with two RBIs.

The win gave the Leopards a two game lead for first place in Region 8-AA North.

LANIER 18, JOHNSON 10: Trae Wilson went 3 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs for the Knights (10-7), and A.J. Benefield went 2 for 5 with a home run on Wednesday night in Oakwood. Jordan Green added a home run for Johnson, and Chris Collins went 3 for 4 with a double.

The Knights visit North Hall at 5:55 p.m. Friday.

EAST HALL 10, DAWSON COUNTY 0: Jonathan Woodring led the Vikings (4-9) with a home run and earning the win on Wednesday afternoon in Dawsonville.

East Hall hosts Fannin County at 5:55 p.m. Monday.
