Flowery Branch swept the doubles matches as the Lady Falcons defeated East Paulding 3-1 in the first round of the Class AAAAA state playoffs on Tuesday in Flowery Branch.

Dani Taylor/Kaia Clark and Megan Ribovich/Breanna Benton picked up doubles wins for the Lady Falcons, and Madison Smith earned a singles win.

Flowery Branch faces the winner of the Cambridge/Arabia Mountain match in the second round. Time, date and location have yet to be determined.

WOODWARD ACADEMY BOYS 4, WEST HALL 1: Tatum Scroggs earned the lone win for the Spartans on Tuesday in Flowery Branch.

West Hall finishes the season with a 16-6 record.

Soccer

CHESTATEE GIRLS 5, CLARKE CENTRAL 0: Alexis Rebollar scored four goals for Chestatee in the final game of the regular season Tuesday in Gainesville.

Lupe Cruz also scored for the Lady War Eagles (12-4-2), and Heydi Acosta recorded three assists.

Chestatee plays host to Region 5-AAAA’s No. 3 seed Carrollton in the first round of the state playoffs next Tuesday in Gainesville.

CLARKE CENTRAL BOYS 4, CHESTATEE 0: Chestatee finished the regular season with a program-best 16-2 overall record and a 8-0 Region 8-AAAA record on Tuesday in Gainesville.

The War Eagles earned their first region championship and play host to LaGrange in the first round of the Class AAAA state tournament at 6 p.m. Wednesday in Gainesville.

FLOWERY BRANCH GIRLS 7, CEDAR SHOALS 0: Kimberly McNeil and Julia Sienkiewicz each scored a pair of goals for the Lady Falcons on Tuesday in Athens.

Corrie Thomas, Jacy Ramey and Hannah Kirk also scored for Flowery Branch, which became Region 8-AAAAA champions after tie-breaking procedures with Heritage and Loganville.

The Lady Falcons will play host to their to-be-determined opponent in the first round of the Class AAAAA state playoffs on Tuesday in Flowery Branch.

JOHNSON BOYS 3, RIVERSIDE MILITARY 2: Jonathan Mendoza and Jeffery Cabrelas each recorded a goal and an assist for the Knights on Tuesday in Gainesville.

Fabian Abarca also scored for Johnson (14-2-2, 7-1 Region 8-AAAA), and Israel Avila notched the assist.

Jose Martinez got the win in goal with three saves.

The Knights play host to Columbus in the first round of the Class AAAA state tournament on Wednesday in Oakwood.

JOHNSON GIRLS 1, OGLETHORPE COUNTY 0: Stephanie Barron scored with 10:53 left for the Lady Knights on Tuesday.

Johnson (9-7-2, 6-2 Region 8-AAAA) visits Alexander in the first round of the Class AAAA state tournament Tuesday in Douglasville.

GAINESVILLE GIRLS 2, WHITE COUNTY 0: Mary Catherine Dempsey scored a goal and had an assist for the Lady Red Elephants on Tuesday in Gainesville.

Hartley Carter also scored for Gainesville (10-5-1), and Ashlie Gonzalez recorded the shutout in goal with five saves.

The Lady Red Elephants visit North Paulding in the first round of the Class AAAAA state tournament on Tuesday in Dallas.

GAINESVILLE BOYS 10, WHITE COUNTY 1: Roberto Nunez scored a hat trick for the Red Elephants on Tuesday in Gainesville.

Omar Campos scored a pair of goals, Ricardo Gomez tallied a goal and four assists, and Cesar Regalado and Roman Arriaga each added a goal and an assist for Gainesville (12-3-1). Christian Ochoa and Jessie Carrillo each scored one goal for the Red Elephants. Josh Aguilar earned the win in goal.

Gainesville plays in the first round of the Class AAAAA state tournament against a to-be-determined opponent on Wednesday.

LAKEVIEW BOYS 2, TOWNS COUNTY 0: Carter Ross scored on a penalty kick and notched an assist for the Lions on Tuesday in Gainesville.

Cameron Kayne also scored for Lakeview (8-6, 5-3 Region 8-A), and Dalton Snyder earned the shutout in goal.

EAST HALL BOYS 1, MOUNTAIN VIEW 0: The Vikings finished the regular season 10-3-1 with the win on Tuesday in Gainesville.

East Hall will play in the first round of the Class AAA state tournament next week.

WEST HALL GIRLS 10, BANKS COUNTY 0: Gabrielle Ligas scored four goals and had two assists for the Lady Spartans on Tuesday in Oakwood.

Alyssa Hall scored a hat trick and had an assist for West Hall (7-6-1, 4-3 Region 7-AAA), and Katie Forrester recorded a goal and three assists. Kirste Floyd and Cristina Del Rio also scored for the Lady Spartans, and Katie Kirkland, Kristen Newstrom and Julia Wunderlich all added assists.

West Hall visits the No. 1 seed from Region 6-AAA on May 2 at a to-be-determined location.

WEST HALL BOYS 8, BANKS COUNTY 0: The Spartans shut out Banks County on Tuesday in Oakwood.

West Hall will face either Woodward Academy or Decatur in the first round of the Class AAA state playoffs next week.

LANIER GIRLS 2, CHESTATEE 0 (Monday): The Lady War Eagles finished with the No. 2 seed from Region 8-AAAA with a loss on Monday in Sugar Hill.

HEBRON CHRISTIAN BOYS 2, LAKEVIEW 1 (Monday): The Lions fell to third-ranked Hebron Christian on Monday in Dacula.

Baseball

WHITE COUNTY 7, FANNIN COUNTY 1: Joel Pritchett struck out 10 to earn the win pitching for the Warriors on Tuesday in Cleveland.

Blake Thomas led the White County (16-7, 13-6 Region 7-AAA) offense, going 2 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs, and Brett Westmoreland was 2 for 2.

The Warriors visit Buford at 5:55 tonight in Buford.

JEFFERSON 13, OGLETHORPE COUNTY 2: Jacob Page went 3 for 3 with four RBIs and a run scored, and struck out four over five innings to earn the win pitching for the Dragons in Game 1 of a doubleheader on Tuesday in Jefferson.

Jake Franklin went 1 for 3 with a two-run double and a run scored for Jefferson (22-2, 14-0 Region 8-AA), and Tyler Cole was 1 for 2 with a pair of RBIs.

With the win, the Dragons secured the Region 8-AA title and play host to Commerce tonight in Jefferson before beginning state playoffs next week.

JEFFERSON 14, OGLETHORPE COUNTY 2: In Game 2, Franklin earned the win from the mound for Jefferson, striking out five over four innings while going 2 for 2 at the plate with three RBIs and a run scored.

Max Ford was 2 for 3 with a pair of RBIs and two runs scored for the Dragons, and Jacob Page was 3 for 4 with three RBIs. Hanon Price finished 2 for 2 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

GEORGE WALTON ACADEMY 11, LAKEVIEW 1: Nick Henderson recorded two hits and an RBI for the Lions on Tuesday in Monroe.

Ted Reynolds also had a hit for Lakeview (12-9, 9-7), which visits Towns County on Friday in Hiawassee.

JOHNSON 2, CHESTATEE 1 (Monday): Asher Griffith allowed just one hit to earn the win pitching for the Knights on Monday in Gainesville.

Golf

WEST HALL GIRLS ADVANCE TO SECTIONALS (Monday): Malorie Smith carded an 84 to finish third overall and lead the Lady Spartans to a third-place finish in the Region 7-AAA tournament on Monday at Scales Country Club in Homer.

Olivia Davis shot an 88 for West Hall, which finished with a team score of 280.

The Lady Spartans advance to the Class AAA sectionals on May 6 at Hartwell Golf Club in Hartwell.

BANKS COUNTY GIRLS TAKE SECOND (Monday): With a team score of 274, the Lady Leopards finished second in the Region 7-AAA golf tournament on Monday at Scales Country Club in Homer.

Cara Gowder led Banks County with a 76, Morgan Rylee carded a 98 and Jody Milford shot a 100.

The Lady Leopards advance to the Class AAA sectionals on May 6 at Hartwell Golf Club in Hartwell.
