Chandler Newton struck out 10 for Gainesville in a complete-game, 8-0 win against Heritage on Monday at Ivey-Watson Field in Gainesville.

Michael Gettys, Sims Griffith, Caleb Whitenton and Hunter Anglin each recorded a pair of hits for the Red Elephants (13-2, 5-1 Region 8-AAAAA), and Skyler Weber notched three RBIs.

Gainesville visits Clarke Central on Wednesday in Athens.

JACKSON COUNTY 9, MORGAN COUNTY 7: The Panthers scored eight runs in the fifth inning to come back from a 7-1 deficit on Monday in Jefferson.

Nick Corso was 1 for 4 with a double and an RBI for Jackson County (9-6, 3-1 Region 8-AAA), Brett Bowen was 1 for 2 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored, and Ben Brissey was 1 for 4 with a double.

Andrew Fogarty earned the win, pitching 1 2/3 innings of relief for the Panthers. Chase Dunlap got the save with three strikeouts over the final two innings and was 2 for 4 at the plate with a pair of RBIs.

Jackson County plays host to Elbert County on Wednesday in Jefferson.

EAST HALL 9, BANKS COUNTY 7: Hunter Buffington was 3 for 3 with three runs scored for East Hall and earned the win from the mound with four strikeouts, three walks, and three earned runs over three innings on Monday in Gainesville.

Matthew Gee was 2 for 3 with two runs scored, and Jacob Cash went 2 for 4 with a pair of run scored for the Vikings (5-10, 3-7 Region 7-AAA).

East Hall plays host to Dawson County on Wednesday in Gainesville.


GAINESVILLE BOYS IN SECOND AT ACHASTA: Spencer Ralston led the Red Elephants with a score of 72 in the first round of the North Georgia High School Invitational at Achasta Golf Club in Dahlonega.

Nathan Williams carded a 73 for Gainesville, Pep Brown finished the day with a 74, and Jackson Bishop and Lawson King each shot a 75 on Day 1. Grant Lasseter rounded out the team scoring with a 76.

Playing as individuals, Webber Wycoff shot an 82, and Davis Brown carded an 89.

The Red Elephants ended the day with a team score of 294, just two strokes behind Easley, S.C. for first place.
Gainesville finishes play at the tournament today at Achasta Golf Club in Dahlonega.
