High school scorebard: Lakeview's Armour hits for the cycle

Lakeview Academy’s Brett Armour hit for the cycle to lead Class A’s third-ranked Lions to an 18-2 win over Tallulah Falls on Thursday in Tallulah Falls.

Armour finished the game 4-for-4 with four runs and four RBIs. Haughton Carswell was also 4-for-4 with three doubles for Lakeview (15-1, 9-0 Region 8-A). Nick Saye was 3-for-5 with four RBIs and Derek Fadool added two RBIs for the Lions.

Taylor Simpson picked up the win on the mound for Lakeview, striking out nine.

Lakeview and Tallulah Falls face off again at 4:30 p.m. today in Gainesville.

North Hall 13, Johnson 0

Trey Pinson was 4-for-4 with four runs scored and two RBIs to help the Trojans snap a two-game skid Thursday in Oakwood.
Davis Partrick was 2-for-3 with three runs and an RBI for North Hall (10-10, 10-8 Region 7-AAA). Jacob Brewster added two hits.

Nathan Hewell struck out four in five innings to earn the win for the Trojans.

North Hall plays host to Gainesville at 7 p.m. Monday.

Lumpkin County 14, West Hall 11

Will Anderson was 2-for-3 with four runs and four stolen bases for the Indians on Thursday in Oakwood.

Chad Fulton was also 2-for-3 and drove in two runs for Lumpkin County (17-1, 15-1 Region 7-AAA). Jonathan Whitehead doubled and had two RBIs, Kyle Lovell added a two-run home run and Tyler Trammell added an RBI for the Indians.

Blake Sargent earned the win on the mound for Lumpkin County, which has won a school-record 12 straight.

Max Everitt was 2-for-5 with a two-run home run for West Hall (7-10, 5-10). Brandon Grindle was 3-for-3 and Chad Goff was 2-for-3 for the Spartans.

Lumpkin County play host to Gainesville at 5:30 p.m. today. West Hall plays host to Flowery Branch at 7 p.m. today.

White County 12, Chestatee 3

Luke Crumley was 2-for-3 with a two-run home run, three runs and five RBIs for the Warriors on Thursday in Cleveland.

Kyle Mills added two hits and had three runs scored for White County (10-9, 8-9 Region 7-AAA).

David Sosebee improved his record to 5-0 on the season, striking out seven in six innings.

Spenser Gruenenfelder led Chestatee (6-10, 6-10) with three hits. Ryan Avery added two hits for the War Eagles.

White County plays host to Pickens at 5:30 p.m. today. Chestatee plays host to East Hall at 5:30 p.m. today.

Flowery Branch 10, East Hall 6

Brad Stone, James Wilson and Corey Sanderson each had two hits to lead the Falcons on Thursday at East Hall Park.

Preston Bostic picked up the win on the mound for Flowery Branch (15-4, 14-4 Region 7-AAA).

Cody Davidson was 2-for-4 with a home run for the Vikings (5-15, 4-14).

Flowery Branch visits West Hall at 7 p.m. today. East Hall visits Chestatee at 5:30 p.m. today.

Jefferson 14, Oglethorpe County 4

The Dragons secured the top seed in Region 8S-AA with a five-inning win Thursday in Jefferson.

Jake Fields was 4-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs for Jefferson (14-2, 9-1 Region 8S-AA). Jason Demos was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and Kyle Hardy and Caleb Meek added two hits for the Dragons.

Jamie Sexton struck out six hitters to earn the win for Jefferson.

Jefferson celebrates senior night when it plays host to Banks County at 5:30 p.m. today.

West Forsyth 8, East Hall 4 (Wednesday)

Cody Davidson led the Vikings with two hits on Wednesday at East Hall Park.

Tommy Ferguson was 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs for West Forsyth.

Lumpkin County 320, Johnson 320, Pickens 389


Lumpkin County and Johnson settled on a tie after darkness prevented a playoff Thursday at Achasta Golf Course in Dahlonega.

Aaron George was the low-medalist of the day, shooting a 73 for the Indians. Austin Booker shot an 81, Everett Huntsinger carded an 82 and Ben Jarrard added an 84 for Lumpkin County.

Grant Cagle and Michael Dunham led the Knights, each shooting a 77. Ben Brisbos carded an 80 and Clint Reeves added an 86.

All three teams will play in the Region 7-AAA Tournament on Thursday at Chattahoochee Golf Course.

Dawson County girls 90, Forsyth Central 107

Charley Whitmire shot a 43 and Katie Stowers carded a 47 to lead the Lady Tigers in its regular season finale Thursday at Chestatee Golf Course in Dawsonville.

Lauren Morley led Forsyth Central with a 51.

Dawson County participates in the Region 8-AA Tournament Monday at Chattahoochee Golf Course.

Dawson County boys 167, Forsyth Central 183

Seniors Gavin Lee and Matt Christopher each shot a 41 to lead the Tigers on senior night on Thursday at Chestatee Golf Course.

Nick Fitts carded a 42 and Wesley Bearden shot a 43 for Dawson County.

Dawson County participates in the Region 8-AA Tournament Monday at Chattahoochee Golf Course.

Riverside Military 166, Jefferson 166, Prince Avenue 180 (Wednesday)

Brian Hodges shot a 39 to lead the Eagles on Wednesday at Lane Creek Golf Course in Bishop.

Parks Brown and Alex Schmidt each carded a 42 while Henry Post added a 43 for Riverside.

Riverside and Jefferson participate in the Region 8-AA Tournament on Monday at Chattahoochee Golf Course.

Lions finish second in region

The Lakeview Academy boys lost to Athens Academy in the Region 8-A Tournament finals Thursday in Athens, securing a No. 2 seed in Class A state playoffs next week.

The Lions will play host to the No. 3 seed from Region 7-A on March 24. Their opponent has yet to be determined.

The Lady Lions clinched the No. 3 seed in next week’s state playoffs by defeating Athens Christian in the Region 8-A Tournament on Thursday in Athens.
