High school football: Cherokee Bluff overcomes slow start to win region opener against Gilmer

The running back duo of Jayquan Smith and Charles Tolbert helped Cherokee Bluff overcome a slow start and beat Gilmer 21-6 in the Region 7-3A opener on Friday in Flowery Branch. 

Jayquan Smith had 134 yards on 16 carries with one score for the Bears (5-0, 1-0 Region 7-3A), while Tolbert finished with 128 yards and two scores. 

Tolbert punched it in on a 68-yard run for Cherokee Bluff. 

Up next, Cherokee Bluff visits West Hall on Friday.
