Hunter Mallard delivered the best performance of his short career Thursday. It also happened to be tops in the state. Mallard, a Gainesville High sophomore, captured the Class AAAAA pole vault state championship with a personal-best vault of 15 feet Thursday during the Georgia Olympics at Memorial Stadium in Jefferson.
