The Gainesville boys basketball team won its home-opener on Thursday night, handling North Oconee easily 80-47.

Shaquan Cantrell led the Red Elephants with 24 points and grabbed five rebounbds in a game in which Gainesville never trailed.

Gainesville’s Ty Cockfield had 15 points and Kane Smith scored 10 points.

The Red Elephants (2-3) host East Hall at Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
