Flowery Branch moving up to AAAA
Four local schools affected by GHSA reclassification

Beginning in the 2010-11 school year, Flowery Branch and East Hall will no longer be playing in the same region with the rest of the Hall County public schools.

According to the Georgia High School Association released its intial reclassification numbers today, Flowery Branch will be moving up a step to compete in Class AAAA for the next four seasons. East Hall will drop down to Class AA.

Other local school affected include Riverside (Class AA to Class A) and Jackson County (Class AAA to Class AA).

Current Region 7-AAA teams West Forsyth and Creekview will also be shipped out. West Forsyth to Class AAAAA, and Creekview to Class AAAA.

The GHSA reclassification committee will meet Dec.  2 to place schools in regions. The committee will also meet Dec. 16 to hear appeals from any school seeking a lateral transfer from the region to which it was assigned.

Schools may also petition to move up a classification.

The GHSA executive committee will meet Jan. 12 to finalize the reclassification of schools for the 2010-2014 cycle.
