Dawson County's Caldwell wins Class AAA girls golf championship
North Hall boys finish 10th, Johnson girls sixth in Class AAAA

Dawson County’s Madison Caldwell shot a 73 to win the Class AAA girls golf individual state title Monday at Horseshoe Bend in Roswell. Caldwell beat out second place finisher Clara Halsey of Sonoraville. The Dawson County girls finished seventh as a team with a score of 298. In addition to Caldwell’s 73, Sydney Morgan shot a 103 and Hannah McConnell shot a 122 for the Lady Tigers. The Dawson County boys shot a 343 to finish seventh at the state tournament. David Ford led the way with an 81.

NORTH HALL BOYS FINISH 10th IN CLASS AAAA: Bartley Forrester shot an 80, Brennan Manson an 82, Cord Sanford an 85, Michael Page an 85, Michael Kallab a 93 and Wes Crumpton a 100 for North Hall, which finished with a team score of 332 on Monday at the Class AAAA state tournament at Waynesboro Country Club in Waynesboro. North Hall finished ahead of Region 8-AAAA rivals Buford 340 and White County 373. Marist won the Class AAAA title with a 295, and St. Pius X finished runner-up with a 314.

JOHNSON GIRLS FINISH SIXTH IN CLASS AAAA: Madison Stewart shot an 81, Jenny Barrett an 88, Kristin Waters shot a 100 and Emory Burkhead shot a 122.

GAINESVILLE GOLFER FINISHES IN TOP 20: Junior Ashleigh Bishop shot a 79 Monday at Maple Ridge Golf Club in Columbus in the Class AAAAA girls golf state championship. She was competing as an individual because of her region low medalist finish one month ago. It was Bishop’s second consecutive year finishing in the top 20.
