Chestatee's Thompson takes second in the 100 at Georgia Olympics

Chestatee High senior Brandon Thompson finished second in the 100 meter race in the finals of the Georgia Olympics on Saturday in Jefferson.

Running in Class AAAA, Thompson, a University of South Carolina signee, crossed the finish line at 11.07 seconds, just behind winner Nick Davis of Mary Persons with a time of 11.05.

Thompson was a state runner-up in the 100 as a junior for the War Eagles.

Also on Saturday, the Buford 400 meter relay team took second in Class AAA with a time of 42.95. Buford’s Quinn Davis was fourth in the 200 (22.85) and eighth in the 400 (52.94).

The 400-relay team from Commerce placed second (43.61) in the Class A public schools race. Also for Commerce, Dekerrio Ramsey took second in the 400 (50.75), Terrick Ramsey took third in the 100 (11.46).
