The Chestatee High’s girls soccer team opened up region play Tuesday night with a 4-1 loss to North Oconee. The boys game was cancelled due to inclement weather.

The Lady Titans (6-0-1, 1-0 8-AAAA) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 10th minute as midfielder Erin Roche played a ball through the center of Chestatee’s (2-1-1, 0-1) back line for Andie Tiemeyer.

Tiemeyer took two touches and slotted the ball into the bottom-right half of the net past the outstretched leg of the Lady War Eagles’ goalie.

North Oconee added its second goal 15 minutes later with the same combination.

Roche crossed the ball into the 18-yard box and found an unmarked Tiemeyer, who volleyed the ball into the side of the net.

At the break, the Lady Titans had five shots with three on goal. The Lady War Eagles had four shots with two on goal.

As the two squads came back from halftime, North Oconee never slowed down.

Within the first minute of the second half, Roche notched a goal of her own after receiving a long pass over the top of the defense and placing the ball high into the net.

Roche also finished the game with a pair of goals as she scored again in the 69th minute.

A misguided clearance from the Chestatee defense wound up at the feet of Roche, who slotted the ball past the goalkeeper into the bottom right corner of the net.

The Lady War Eagles got one back with less than seven minutes to play in the contest as Karlee Weiss took control of the ball and side-stepped a pair of defenders to strike the ball into the goal.

Chestatee more than doubled North Oconee in shots (5-2) in the second half. The Lady War Eagles also outnumbered the Lady Titans in shots on goal, 3-2.

For the game, both teams finished with three corners each.

Chestatee will next host Johnson High Friday at 5:30 p.m.
