The season’s first prepcountry.com poll was released on Wednesday and the three-time defending Class AA state champion Buford Lady Wolves are ranked No. 1 in the state.

The Lady Wolves finished last season with a 25-5 overall record and defeated Rockmart to win the state championship. Buford faces Oconee County at 5 p.m. next Wednesday to open the 2010 season. Also in Class AA, Union County opens the season ranked No. 9 overall.
