Landon Kistler grabbed individual titles for the Riverside Military Academy swimming team in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle, as well as taking part in the victorious 200-freestyle relay team at the Class A state meet Saturday at the West Gwinnett Aquatics Center in Berkeley Lakes.
Also for the Eagles, Alex Pee won the 500 freestyle and was on the winning 400-freestyle relay.
Also on the 200-freestyle relay team were Alan Akzhanov, Andrew Okingo, and Andrew Tonnesen.
Other members of the Riverside Military 400-relay team were Andrew Okingo, Alan Akzhanov, and Haining Zhang.
Eagles coach Marc Paglia said his team also carried a number second and third place finishes.
“This was a great opportunity for our program to gauge our standing among other (Class) A schools without being clumped in with larger school with higher classifications,” Paglia said. “Next weekend we will have to compete in with schools from Class A through 5A, which makes it very difficult to get a good feel where you stand with similar size schools.
“I’m very proud of our guys, given the opportunity to win a championship, they stepped up and swam their best meet of the year. I’m counting on them having a little more left in the tank to go even faster next weekend at the GHSA State Championships at Georgia Tech.”
The Eagles finished the meet with 232 points, 28 ahead of second-place Mount Vernon Presbyterian.
