High school scoreboard: Madison Hughes leads Lanier Christian Academy girls basketball team to victory over The King's Academy

Madison Hughes finished with a team-high eight points and nine rebounds in a Lanier Christian Academy 42-29 victory over The King’s Academy on Tuesday. Also chipping in, Faith Wasden scored eight points, while Reece Montgomery had six. 

Lanier Christian Academy hosts Fideles Christian School at 6:30 p.m. on Friday for the GICAA Division II-AA Region 1 Tournament Championship.

DAWSON COUNTY GIRLS 64, FANNIN COUNTY 61: Kaylee Sticker reached 1,500 career points, leading the Lady Tigers with 23 points on Tuesday. Also chipping in, Maddie Anglin scored 14 points followed by Marlie Tonwley with nine to book Dawson County another trip to the 3A State Tournament. 

Dawson County visits North Hall in the Region 7-3A tournament semifinals on Friday. 


EAST HALL  BOYS 6, RIVERSIDE MILITARY ACADEMY 1: Sergio Turcios led the Vikings (1-0) with five goals and an assist, followed by Maury Ibarra with a goal. Assists were provided by Romeo Serrano, Gio Avila, Maury Ibarra, and Edder Montesinos. Goalkeeper Daniel Carrillo had six saves.


BUFORD BOYS 5, JEFFERSON 0: Wins came from Brady Todd, Dean Kingsley and Luke Davidson for the Wolves’ opening meet of the season. In doubles, Todd Goehmann and Cameron Tidwell and Caleb Williamson and Grayson Gilbert all finished with a win. 

Buford hosts Peachtree Ridge at 4 p.m. on Thursday.
