SOFTBALL

Buford High split a pair of home games Saturday as part of the Grayson High Ram Classic, losing a pitchers’ duel against East Coweta High 3-0 before topping Calhoun High 15-5.

Tennessee commit Logan Caymol (6-2) took the loss in the Lady Wolves’ opener despite recording 13 strikeouts through seven innings. Buford (17-4) managed just two hits against Auburn commit Kelley Lynch, with both coming from Hannah Jo Hyatt.

The Lady Wolves’ offense came alive in Game 2, which was cut short in the fifth inning due to the run rule. Janelle Mathis went 2 for 3 with a two-run homer and four RBIs, while Hyatt kept her hot streak at the plate going (3 for 3, two RBIs, triple).

Anabel Adams and Abbi Perkins each recorded two hits and drove in a pair of runs for Buford. Ansley Byers picked up her fifth win and remained undefeated on the season.
