Kyle Murphy finished with a combined six hits while driving in three runs as West Hall won both games of a doubleheader to complete the region series sweep of Chestatee on Friday in Gainesville.
Dylan Simpson (three hits allowed) tossed six scoreless innings with five strikeouts from the mound, while Murphy (2 for 4, one run scored) and Canaan Koger (2 for 3) each drove in a run in a Spartans’ 2-0 win in Game 1.
Murphy then went 4 for 5 with two RBI from the plate to supplement a solid pitching performance (4.2 IP, 2 K, one earned run) as he boosted West Hall to a 8-4 win in the nightcap game. Jeffery Jenkins was the only other Spartan with a multi-hit outing in Game 2, going 3 for 4 with an RBI and two runs scored.
West Hall (14-4, 6-0 Region 7-4A) continues region play against Dawson County at 5:55 p.m. on April 2 in Oakwood.
