Defending Class 3A champion North Hall clinched a Region 7-3A title after defeating region foe Dawson County 7-6 on Tuesday in Gainesville. With the region crown, the Trojans host the first round of the state playoffs at a date and time to be determined. Caden Bales, Caleb Wiley and Caleb Clark each drove in two runs for North Hall (20-5, 14-2 Region 7-3A). Dylan Wiley added a run for the Trojans, while Georgia Tech commit Reese Olson threw for seven strikeouts from the mound for the Trojans.
North Hall wraps up the regular season against Dawson County at 5:55 p.m. on Friday in Gainesville.
EAST HALL 8, UNION COUNTY 7: With runners at second and third with one out in the bottom of the seventh, Trey Campbell (three innings pitched, four strikeouts) struck out the last two hitters to seal the victory for the Vikings in the Region 7-3A series opener. Campbell also went 2 for 4 with two runs scored. Mike Matuska was 3 for 4 with four RBI at the plate for East Hall (13-12, 8-8 Region 7-3A). Levi Crocker was 3 for 3 with one RBI and two runs scored for the Vikings.
The Vikings host Game 2 of the series at 5:55 p.m. today Gainesville.
MADISON COUNTY 3, JEFFERSON 0: Patrick Hickox recorded four strikeouts for Jefferson (17-8), which fell to 10-3 in Region 8-4A play.
Jefferson visits Madison County on Thursday in Danielsville.
