Chris Gaston scored 23 points and grabbed 17 rebounds as Fordham beat Georgia Tech 72-66 on Thursday night. Gaston leads the NCAA in double-doubles this season with 10.
Georgia Tech (7-6) cut the Fordham lead to three, 56-53, with 6:40 left to play behind Daniel Miller's three-point play.
But Brandon Frazier sparked a 9-3 run to put the Rams ahead 65-56 with 3:49 remaining. Frazier scored five points during the run and Gaston knocked down two free throws. Frazier finished with a season-high 19 points and six assists for the Rams.
Despite outshooting Fordham (6-6) from the field 42.4 percent (25 of 59) to 37.9 percent (22 of 58), the Yellow Jackets only made 6 of 14 free throws and sent the Rams to the line 34 times.
Fordham converted 22 of those attempts.
Jason Morris led Georgia Tech with 17 points and Brandon Reed chipped in with 16.
