STARKVILLE, Miss. — Angela Puleo scored 16 points and hit the game-winning basket with 1:36 left as Georgia beat Mississippi State 60-56 on Sunday.
There were 10 lead changes and 14 ties in a game where neither team led by more than eight. Ashley Houts hit a pair of free throws with 1 second left to secure the win.
Mississippi State (15-11, 3-8 Southeastern Conference) tied the game at 56 on a pair of free throws by Imesia Jackson with 1:47 left. But Georgia (19-7, 6-5) held Mississippi State scoreless the rest of the way.
Tasha Humphrey had 14 points and 11 rebounds for Georgia, while Marneshia Richard led Mississippi State with 15 points.
