Georgia's Poythress hits three home runs in win over Kennesaw State

University of Georgia first baseman Rich Poythress was 4-for-4 with three home runs and a double to lead the Bulldogs to a 11-7 win against Kennesaw State on Tuesday at Foley Field in Athens.

Poythress is the sixth player in Georgia history to hit three home runs and the first since 2001. He leads the team with 20 home runs this season.

Colby May, Peter Verdin, Levi Hymans and and Matt Cerione also homered for Georgia (32-8) for a game-high seven home runs.

Cecil Tanner won his third game of the year, allowing one run on three hits and five strikeouts in three innings. Dean Weaver pitched 1 1/3 innings to earn his eighth save of the season.

Georgia visits Jacksonville State at 7:30 p.m. today before heading to Mississippi for a three-game series beginning Friday.
