ATHENS  — The Georgia Bulldogs lost a tough home match-up tonight to the Florida Gators by a score of 77-64. A raucous crowd and solid play from the Bulldog starters was not enough to get it done against Florida tonight.

“It was a tough night all around,” said head coach Dennis Felton. “We were very sluggish in all areas which is not very characteristic of this team, and Yada wasn’t himself either. We normally get after it with a lot of energy, but we were apprehensive on offense and a step slow on defense.”

Felton’s deeming of Sundiata Gaines as “not himself” is only applicable due to the stellar stretch of play Gaines has been on during the last several games.

He contributed 13 points, four rebounds, and four assists tonight in his ongoing quest for the upper echelons of the University of Georgia career record books.

Center Dave Bliss notched a double-double on the night with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Power forward Albert Jackson earned a rare start tonight and registered12 points and seven rebounds in 28 hustle-filled minutes.

Forward Jeremy Price came off the bench to add 10 points.

Leading the way for the Gators was freshman Nick Calathes, who had 22 points and seven rebounds, including three consecutive 3-pointers to start the ballgame.

The loss drops Georgia to 12-14 with a 3-10 record in SEC play.
