Bulldogs duo receives weekly SEC football awards

Senior place-kicker Blair Walsh and junior defensive end Abry Jones have received weekly Southeastern Conference awards following their performances for the University of Georgia a 19-10 win over Kentucky.

Walsh, a native of Boca Raton, Fla., was named the SEC Special Teams Player of the Week for the second time this year. He was 4-for-4 on field goals and is now 16 points behind former Bulldog Billy Bennett as the SEC’s career point leader.

Jones, a 6-foot-3, 309-pound native of Macon, tallied four tackles, including 1.5 tackles for loss, and helped the Bulldogs defense hold Kentucky to a single touchdown and a field goal.

The 14th-ranked Bulldogs (9-2, 7-1 SEC) travel to Atlanta to take on 25th-ranked Georgia Tech (8-3, 5-3 ACC) at noon on Saturday. ESPN will televise the game.
