Gainesville High basketball player Hailey Solomon recently signed a letter of intent to continue her basketball career at Brenau University.

Solomon, a 6-foot center, was part of a Lady Red Elephants team that won the Lanierland Tournament and a Region 7-AAA title this past season. She was also a Lanierland All-Tournament selection her junior year.

Solomon also excelled in track and field, where she finished seventh in the Class AAA discus at the Girls state track meet last Friday.

"I thought my basketball career might be over after the injury, and I am thrilled to have this chance to play again," said Solomon, who sustained a knee injury during the 2008-09 season.

"It is always an exciting time for us when one of our players has the opportunity to play at the next level at a fine school like Brenau," Gainesville coach Manson Hill said.
