Gainesville grad Ralston named SEC Player of the Week

University of Georgia junior golfer Spencer Ralston, a Gainesville High graduate, was named Wednesday the SEC Player of the Week, according to an announcement by the league’s office. Ralston earned his first career college win Sunday, shooting a final-round six-under par (66) and 11-under par over 54 holes at the Linger Longer Invitational in Greensboro.

Ralston’s win carried the Bulldogs with a team score of 10-under par and six-shot victory over second-place Liberty.

The former Red Elephants standout has four top-10 finishes this year and 14 in his career. He ranks third among eligible players in the SEC this season with a scoring average of 69.87 and leads the Bulldogs with 20 par-or-better rounds, including 11 in the 60s.

Up next, Georgia takes part in the Clemson Invitational on April 5-7 in Clemson, S.C.
