Gainesville falls to Lambert 16-15

Gainesville lost its third straight game to start the season, falling 16-15 against Lambert.

JD Brooks put Gainesville (0-3) on the board first when he had a 60 yard interception return for a touchdown in the first half. Lambert blocked the kick on the extra point attempt, but Gainesville’s Pete Alexander recovered the ball after the deflection and ran it in for the two-point conversion. 

At the end of the half the Red Elephants were up 8-3. In the second, half Zymere Dukes had an interception for Gainesville setting up a Red Elephant drive on the Lambert 1 yard line. On the very next play, Walt Dixon scored on a quarterback sneak for Gainesville. In the fourth quarter, the Longhorns scored a pair of touchdowns.

Gainesville visits Jefferson on Sept. 7 at Memorial Stadium in Jefferson.
