Jack Prather accomplished one of the rarer golfing feats by shooting lower than his age (76) with a 75 for the Chattahoochee Men’s Golf Association Wednesday as they played a three best ball, aggregated net strokes at the Chattahoochee Golf Course.
Karl Goellner, Bud Clegg, Ben Brooks and Don Gage took first place. Three teams tied for second place: Johnny Little, Bob Henderson, Clay Bartlett and Harmon Smith, Don Sorrell, Gary Palmer, Harry Barnett and J.B. Johnston, Roy Lyle, Jack Prather, Larry Cohan and Rolf Legbandt. Gene Weschler, A J Kiker, Al Batog and Paul Payne finished in fifth.
Closest to the pin winners were Payne (No. 3), Barnette (No. 5), Bill Falls (No. 12) and Jim Hollobaugh (No. 17).
DPG: The Dedicated Players Group played matches on Monday, Wednesday and Friday this week at Chicopee Woods Golf Course. Denis Jordan took first place, Jerry Shell came in second, Dave Jetter finished third and Bob Kidd came in fourth on Monday. Shell finished first Wednesday, Jordan took second and Kidd came in third.
Friday Charley Kilby finished first, Jetter took second and Kidd and Shell tied for third.
Luna’s Tuesday: Stan Davidson Jr, Royce Deaton, Jim Cornett, and Nelson Wright took first place as a team for the Luna’s Tuesday golf group at Chicopee Woods.
Second place went to the team of Gene Weschler, Cleve Brown, Tommy Lowery, and Doug Van.
Third place went to the team of Johnny Nix, Richard Strickland, Ken Chahoy, and Tom Sexton.
Closest to the pin winners were Strickland (Village No. 4), Davidson (Village No. 8), Nix (School No. 4) and Deaton (School No. 7).
