Local golf: DPG plays three events at Chicopee Woods

The Dedicated Players Group played matches Monday, Wednesday, and Friday this week at Chicopee Woods Golf Course.

On Monday, Norm Phillips took first place, and Terrence Dale and Denis Jordan tied for second place.

Bob Kidd won first place on Wednesday, and Dave Jetter came in second.

Charley Kilby earned a first place finish on Friday, with Dale and Jetter coming in second and third, respectively.

LUNA'S TUESDAY: The Luna's Tuesday golf group played at Chattahoochee Golf Course this week.

First place went to the team of Joe Roberts, Jim Cornett, Stan Davidson Jr and Juan Luna.

Second place went to the team of Phil Rothermal, Doug Van, Jerry Johns and Joe Campbell.

Third place went to the team of Richard Strickland, Gene Weschler, Nelson Wright and Cleve Brown.

Closest to the pin winners were Campbell (No. 3), Van (No. 5), Johns (No. 12), and Roberts (No. 17).

WEDNESDAY DOGFIGHT: The Wednesday Dogfight group played a three-best ball, net event at Chicopee Woods this week.

The team of Jim Arendt, Terry Clegg and Yoko Komoto shot a 23-under par to take first place.

In second place was the team of Greg Lee, Bob Arendt and Terry McFarland, who shot a combined 22-under.

Len Kaper, Vince Jonte', Glen Whitmire and Carol Fitzgerald shot 17-under and finished in third.

Arendt shot a 67 to take the top spot in the individual results. Komoto shot a 68 and finished in second.

CMGA: The Chattahoochee Men's Golf Association played its annual Low Gross/Low Net Championship tournament on Wednesday and Thursday with an ancillary flighted strokes competition for Wednesday-only players.

Gene Weschler won the low gross from the white tees, and Tommy Lowery took the low net division from the white tees.

From the gold tees, Bob Watson claimed first place and Carlyle Cox placed second in low net.

In the Wednesday-only flighted game Bob Henderson won the first flight, with Johnny Nix coming in second.

Jimmy Johnson won the second flight. Harmon Smith, Bob Layne and Gary Myers tied for first place in the third flight.

The closest to the pin winners on Wednesday were Larry Cohan (No. 3), Cox (No. 5), Scott Pledger (No. 12) and Jere Cochran (No. 17).

The closest to the pin winners on Thursday were Stan Davidson Jr. (No. 3), Johnny Little (No. 5), Paul Payne (No. 12) and Tommy Lowery (No. 17).
