Local golf: Chattahoochee ladies kick off season

Mona White, Nancy Negley and Carolyn Palmer teamed up to take first place as the Chattahoochee Ladies Golf Association opened its season Tuesday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course. Second place went to Sue Cronmiller, Paula Pilgrim, Barabara Smith and Fran Watkins. Closest to the pin winners were Mona White on No. 3 and Paula Pilgrim on No. 17.

CMGA: The team of Roy Bartlett, Roy Lyle, Butch Teston and Bob Watson took first place as the Chattahoochee Men's Golf Association played a three best-ball, aggregated net-strokes game Wednesday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course. Billy Falls, Larry Cohan, Rolf Legbandt and Ron Bachman tied Paul Payne, Don Gage, Ben Brooks and Wayne Nelson and A.J. Kiker, Jim Hollobaugh, Roger Miller and Johnny Little for second place. Closest to the pin winners were Legbandt on No. 3, Kiker on No. 5, Guy Long on No. 12 and Ed Pledger on No. 17.

DOGFIGHT: Mark Black teamed with Gayle Gibson, Glen Whitmire and Slatz Gaines to card an 18-under-par score and take first place in the team competition as the Wednesday Dogfight took place this week at Chicopee Woods Golf Course. Black (67) also took first place in the individual competition. Jim Arendt, Dan Arthurs, Geoff Archibald and Terry McFarland (13-under) tied Walt Hope, Bob Arendt, Terry Clegg and Don Schrum for second place. Greg Lee (68) was second individually, with Karl Steigele and Glen Whitmire tieing for third at 69.

DPG: Terrence Dale carded a +6 on Monday as the DPG played the first of three matches this week at the Chicopee Woods Golf Course. Dwight Miller (+5) was second, Steve Knowles was third and Norm Phillips (Even) was fourth Monday. On Wednesday, Dennis Jones and Knowles tied for first with an even score, while Billy Corbin (-1) was third. Jerry Pearson's +7 took first place Friday, with Dough Padgett in second, Phillips in third and Jerry shell in fourth.

 

Regional events
