The US Canoe & Kayak Flatwater National Team Trials kicked off with a solid showing from athletes from the Lanier Canoe & Kayak Club on Saturday at the Lake Lanier Olympic Park. The LCKC’s Farran Smith had two top three finishes, earning first in the Junior Women’s K1 (one-person kayak) 500-meter race (2 minutes, 2.37 seconds) and was third in the Senior Women’s K1 500 (2:00.465). Also in Junior Women’s K1 500, Lisa Swenson took third place (2:02.66).
