Morgan House, of Gainesville, placed sixth in the one-man kayak 1,000 meter final with a time of 3 minutes, 48 seconds. He was six seconds behind the gold medal-winning boat from Cuba.

Robert Finlayson, also of Gainesville, placed sixth in the one-man canoe 1,000 meter final. He finished in 4:34, which was 31 seconds behind the first-place finisher from Mexico.

With the sixth-place finishes, House and Finlayson failed to qualify for the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
