Gainesville High graduate Daunte Carr was named to the Southeastern Conference first year Academic Honor Roll. Carr, who plays safety, is a redshirt freshman on the University of Arkansas football team and is majoring in kinesiology.

To be eligible, student-athletes must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0, completed 24 semester hours and be a member of a varsity squad for the entire year.

During his senior season in high school, the Red Elephants went 13-1 and played for the Class AAA state championship. He recorded 104 tackles, three interceptions and two forced fumbles.
