Two Lady Saints honored with conference awards

Two members of the fourth-ranked North Georgia College & State University softball team received honors from the Peach Belt Conference this week.

Ansley Williams was named PBC Freshman of the Week for the third time this season after leading North Georgia to a 6-0 record last week.

Williams hit .400 on the week, with 10 hits, seven RBIs and two home runs.

The Cartersville native is batting .356 on the season, with 10 home runs, 35 RBIs, 47 runs scored, and 17 stolen bases, and sits among the leaders in several PBC categories, including fourth in hits, first in runs scored, third in RBIs, and third in home runs.

After appearing in all six games for the Lady Saints last week, Jessica Coan was named the PBC Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season.

Coan (19-3) went 4-0 with a 1.01 earned run average over the week, tossing three complete games, picking up a save, and striking out 43 batters in 27.2 innings of work.

The junior from Duluth leads the PBC in wins (19), innings pitched (148.1), total strikeouts (226), and earned run average (0.85) this season.

The Lady Saints visit Lander University for a doubleheader to begin at 5 p.m. Thursday at Doug Spears Field.
