Piedmont baseball tops Guilford, 9-1

Max Oberkofler led Piedmont (12-3) striking out five in seven shutout innings in a 9-1 win against Guilford College on Thursday afternoon in Demorest. 

Freshman Luke MacDonald went the final two innings for the Lions, allowing one run on one hit. Curtis Cornett finished 2 for 4 with a solo home run. Garrett Lovelace and Matt Youtsey both drove in a pair of runs as the team totaled 11 hits on the afternoon. 

Piedmont will take on No. 1 Marietta College at 3 p.m. Saturday.
