Daniel McCrary, a Lumpkin County grad, pitched his first-career complete-game shutout for the University of North Georgia baseball team, and the seventh-ranked Nighthawks completed the sweep of Armstrong State in a 4-0 victory on Sunday in Dahlonega.
McCrary (4-1) also picked up his fourth win from the mound by striking out four while only surrendering eight hits.
After Trevor Sams put the Nighthawks (16-4) ahead 1-0 in the bottom of the second with a solo home run to left-center field, the Nighthawks got a three-run shot from Michael Gouge, his seventh of the season, in the bottom of the seventh to put the game out of reach.
North Georgia plays Auburn University Montgomery (Ala.) in a non-conference clash at 6 p.m. on Tuesday in Montgomery.
