Brenau wins third straight match

The Brenau University women’s tennis won it’s third-straight match Wednesday as they defeated Georgia College and State University, 7-2.

Brenau is ranked No.6 in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and, with the win, moved to 9-5 on the season and continues to lead the Southern States Athletic Conference at 3-0.

The Tigers won all three doubles play matches. At No.1 doubles, the team of Lyn See Choo and Kate Mazackova overtook the Bobcats team of Danna/Lion.

Brenau’s No.2 doubles team of Jolene Wong and Liuba Orlova picked up a hard-fought tiebreaker win over Barksdale/Lingner 9-8 (7-5), and the No.3 doubles team of Eline Nagels and Hannah Thompson defeated Acuna/Mosa, 8-2.

In singles play, Georgia College’s No.1 Danna downed Lyn See Choo 6-1 and 6-4, Brenau’s No.2 Mazackova defeated Barksdale 6-4, 6-3, and Lion claimed third singles, 7-5 and 6-4, against Jolene Wong. Slotted fourth, Hannah Thompson took a pair of 6-1 sets from Lingner, and both Liubov Orlova and Eline Nagels won their seventh straight, with Orlova taking care of Mosa 6-0 and 6-1 and Nagels taking Acuna 6-1 and 6-2.

Brenau will play their biggest match of the season when they play host to NAIA No.1 Auburn University-Montgomery at 2 p.m. Friday.
