SARASOTA, Fla. — Ubaldo Jimenez wrapped up his spring by allowing one run in four innings, and the Baltimore Orioles beat the Atlanta Braves 3-2 on Friday night.

Jimenez, competing with Kevin Gausman for the fifth starter's spot in Baltimore, improved markedly over his seven starts.

Exactly a month ago, Jimenez gave up five earned runs in 1 1-3 innings against Detroit.

His succeeding outings have been much better, especially his control. Jimenez issued three walks in his last 23 innings.

He had a scary moment in the second Friday when Christian Bethancourt lined a ball off his right foot, but Jimenez said his shoe cushioned the blow.

Shelby Miller, who will be Atlanta's third starter, gave up three runs in five innings. Alejandro De Aza led off the fifth with his third home run of the spring for Baltimore.
