Elbert County bested Lumpkin County 28-18 in the first round of the Class AAA playoffs on Friday night in Dahlonega.
Zach Matthews and Gunner Wood connected to power the Indians' (No. 2, Region 7-AAA) offense.
Matthews finished with 77 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries, and completed a two-point conversion pass to Wood. Wood added 50 yards and a score on 13 carries.
Elbert County (No. 3, Region 8-AAA) notched over 300 yards of offense in the game.
Lumpkin County finishes the 2014 campaign with a 5-6 overall record.
