CHESTATEE VS. WEST HALL

When: 7:30 p.m. tonight

Where: War Eagles Stadium, Gainesville

Records: Chestatee (3-3); West Hall (4-2)

Who to watch: Chestatee’s Nick Lyles put up 155 yards and scored a touchdown in the War Eagles’ 40-14 loss to Class AAAAAA’s Habersham Central two weeks ago. West Hall’s Tyrese Osborne has been a rock for the Spartans carrying the ball this season.

Game notes: This is the first region game for these two schools playing in the five-team Region 7-AAAA. These final four weeks of the season will be straight region play with games also against White County, Blessed Trinity and Marist for both.
Chestatee and West Hall have evenly split the 12 previous meetings dating back to 2002. West Hall has won each of the last two seasons against the War Eagles. The Spartans peeled off four-straight wins before losing to Class AA’s fifth-ranked Rabun County, 34-10, two weeks ago.
Chestatee, at 3-3, is off to its best start since 2013.

EAST HALL VS. GREATER ATLANTA CHRISTIAN

When: 7:30 p.m. tonight

Where: East Hall Stadium, Gainesville

Records: East Hall (2-4, 0-2 7-AAA); Greater Atlanta Christian (5-1, 2-0)

Who to watch: Austin Parker has been the driving force for the Vikings this season. The junior signal caller threw for 353 yards and three touchdowns in East Hall’s 51-46 loss to Union County a week ago in Blairsville. Parker also ran for 63 yards and a score in the contest. Greater Atlanta Christian senior quarterback David Mills, who is committed to Stanford, is the No. 19 quarterback prospect in the country. The Spartans’ quarterback threw for 189 yards and a pair of touchdowns in a 52-10 win against Fannin County last week in Norcross.

Game notes: The Vikings are 0-4 all-time against the Spartans. Running back Deon Ellison has powered the running game for East Hall with 357 yards and eight scores. Sedrion Morse continues to be the receiving leader with 540 yards and four touchdowns. Markese Jackson and Tripp Rider each have three touchdowns for East Hall. Parker is powering the passing game with 1,443 yards and 15 touchdowns this season. The quarterback has also ran for 152 yards and a score. For the Spartans, Mills has thrown for 660 yards and nine scores in just four games after missing the first two games with an offseason injury.

FLOWERY BRANCH AT WALNUT GROVE 

When: 7:30 p.m. tonight

Where: Warrior Stadium, Loganville

Records: Flowery Branch (3-3, 2-0 8-AAAAA); Walnut Grove (2-4, 1-1)

Who to watch: Falcons quarterback Nick Lance has completed 59 of his 88 passes for 822 yards and six touchdowns, despite missing a game due to injury.

Game notes: The Falcons are looking strong in region play so far after topping Johnson and Cedar Shoals in back-to-back weeks by a combined score of 79-7. With another win this week, Flowery Branch will be 3-0 in region play for the first time since 2013. In its two wins, Walnut Grove has scored 34 and 28 points. Outside of those two games, the Warriors have not scored more than 13 points in a contest. This will be the first meeting between Flowery Branch and Walnut Grove.

NORTH HALL AT LUMPKIN COUNTY 

When: 7:30 p.m. tonight

Where: The Burial Grounds, Dahlonega

Records: North Hall (4-2, 1-1 7-AAA); Lumpkin County (3-2, 1-0)

Who to watch: Kyle Bacus has covered 904 yards on the ground for the Trojans through six games, scoring 11 touchdowns along the way. Lumpkin County’s Cole White rushed for 155 yards and two scores in a 20-14 win against White County on Sept. 30.

Game notes: North Hall has won 17 of the 24 all-time contests between the two schools. With North Hall falling back into Class AAA in the latest reclassification, this game will help decipher who has an upper hand in what is shaping up to be a crowded playoff race in the middle of the pack in 7-AAA. The Trojans are coming off a 45-27 loss to Dawson County at The Brickyard. The last meeting between North Hall and Lumpkin County was five years ago, a 49-0 region win for the Trojans.

LAKEVIEW ACADEMY AT PRINCE AVENUE CHRISTIAN 

When: 7:30 p.m. tonight

Where: Wolverine Field, Bogart

Records: Lakeview Academy (1-4, 1-3 8-A); Prince Avenue Christian (6-0, 5-0)

Game notes: Lakeview Academy has lost all six meetings against Prince Avenue. Lakeview Academy is coming off of a strong second-half effort against Athens Christian, in which they were down 22-7 at half, but came back to lose by just one score. Lakeview Academy coach Matthew Gruhn said he hopes his team is able to roll some momentum from last week’s game into this week with the second-ranked Wolverines. Prince Avenue hasn’t allowed more than 21 points in a game this season.

BUFORD VS JOHNSON 

When: 7:30 p.m. tonight

Where: Tom Riden Stadium, Buford

Records: Buford (4-1, 1-0 8-AAAAA); Johnson (0-6, 0-2)

Who to watch: Anthony Grant has scored 10 touchdowns for the second-ranked Wolves this season with eight coming on the ground and two receiving. For Johnson, Cody Long has been the go-to guy in the rushing game.
Game notes: Since falling to Roswell to open the season, Buford has continued to roll. The Wolves opened up Region 8-AAAAA play last week with a 44-13 win against Clarke Central in Athens. The Wolves, who have always taken great pride in playing lock-down run defense, have allowed just 82 rushing yards per game this season.

DAWSON COUNTY AT UNION COUNTY

WHITE COUNTY VS. BLESSED TRINITY 

When: 7:30 p.m. tonight

Where: White County Stadium, Cleveland

Records: White County (1-5); Blessed Trinity (4-2)

Game notes: The Warriors picked up its only win against North Hall in OT on Sept. 16. White County will have four games, starting tonight, to fight for a playoff spot as Region 7-AAAA play begins. The Warriors are 0-4 all-time against the Titans. Blessed Trinity is coming off a big 56-6 loss at the hands of McCallie School (Chattanooga, Tenn.). Blessed Trinity’s other loss came when the Titans traveled to Dublin, Ireland to play St. Peter’s Prep out of New Jersey.
