Your Views: Columnist was off base in his depiction of Democrats

There is an old saying: "He knows the price of everything, and the value of nothing."

Bill Shipp's column of May 7 indicates that while he knows some numbers about the Democratic Party of Georgia, he does not have his fingers on the pulse. Therefore, he does not know the value. Well, the scoreboard doesn't tell the whole story. I'll speak to North Georgia , with which I have some familiarity.

Anyone who has witnessed the surge of energy in these past months by Democrats from Lavonia to Chickamauga would agree that the picture is not as bleak as presented by Mr. Shipp. County after county has seen a rebirth of their local Democratic party unifying into a more competitive district.

Are we there yet? No. But a ship that was on the rocks is moving again, not backward or sideways, but straight ahead and gathering steam.

Anyone can read a scoreboard and may believe the whole story is in the numbers. Although we are getting out scored, there are no white flags waving in North Georgia. Feel the pulse.

Lawbreakers should be deported from US
What a shame David Kennedy is having trouble with the laws of our land, such as 287(g). I thank our sheriff and his officers for upholding the laws.

The U.S. government isn't doing its job. If he doesn't like arresting illegal immigrants, no matter what they are doing, tough. What is there about "illegal" that makes it hard to understand? These people are lawbreakers and need to be sent back.

How about the good people waiting in line to come to this country legally?
